My favorite side is fresh green beans with bacon and a little butter. So I thought today I would share with you how I made in my Instant Pot. Also this is a great way to make for Thanksgiving since if your stove is like mine it will be filled up and you are making the green bean casserole last. The directions are really easy and the taste is amazing. One pound will feed about 4-5 people depending on your serving size.
What you need-
1 lb of green beans
1/4 cup of bacon bits
1/2 tbsp of butter
dash of salt and pepper
How to make-
Cut off the ends of your green beans
Then wash them very well
Place 1 cup of water on the bottom of Instant Pot
Then place the trivet, and place your steamer basket on top of the trivet within the Instant Pot
Next turn on with bacon and green beans inside the Instant Pot and let cook for 3 minutes on high (manual), if you want softer do 5.
After cooked place in a bowl and then add your butter, it will melt quickly.

High pressure or low pressure??? Hoping you can clarify, since that makes a big difference.
Thanks!
Hi there, I’m sorry I did not clarify – you can use high pressure.
Any ideas of what to use instead of a steamer? What if I just left the green beans in the water?
You need a steamer, you can get them pretty cheap at a thrift store or store. I found mine for .25cents at a thrift store.
I just made some and didn’t use a steamer. I sauteed the bacon on the saute button, then added one cup of chicken broth and 1/2 cup of water, then added fresh green beans. Hit manual for 20 minutes and quick release and they was perfect!
Sorry, I meant 15 minutes.
Did you use the rack ?
You can or you don’t have to. I do both ways.
I just tried my instapot for the first time with this recipe not using the steamer or rack. Came out a bit soft so will know to only do them for 10 min next time. But mmm they were good.
10 minutes is way to long.
you didn’t say whether you used instant release or natural release???
You can do either day. I normally am doing 100s of other things when I am cooking. They come out good either way.
Loved these. Even my husband who is not a fan of vegetables asked for more! I did mine for 5 minutes. They were just the way my husband likes them (on the soft side) and tasted somewhat like canned beans from the store. Next time, I’ll try 4 minutes.
I love the softner side, my sister in law calls it the way of the south.
Did you put uncooked real bacon in the instapot or bacon bits that you can buy in store?
Thanks
I used bacon bits or leftover bacon from breakfast.
